Well we have finally got to spend a bit of time at Cradle Mountain. The weather was not great, a bit wet, and not much snow, but still a great time.
After dropping Bessy off to the doggy resort we headed up early on Wednesday morning. The day was rainy on and off, and most of the snow from last week had melted, but it was still dam cold. We would have liked to stay until Saturday as they were predicting more snowfalls for Friday night – but alas Peter has to work this afternoon and I have an early start tomorrow morning. Next time we come up here we are going to stay at the Waldheim cabins which are pretty basic but located inside the park.

Some of the tracks and sights along the way
We only did some of the shorter (and easier) walks, sticking to the boardwalks and well defined tracks. That was tough enough for us old farts! Note to self – next time take thicker thermal underwear.
Not only did we get to see some great views of the park, but lots of wombats. They are so cute and really quite large.

Bessy was not at all traumatized by being left behind, in fact she was a bit reluctant to leave the boarding kennels, just to many other dogs to play with I guess. Next trip to Strahan I hope.
