Yolla

Well not much has happened since the last post.

When we left Bay of Fires we headed inland to Deloraine and the temperature dropped noticeable as we got further from the coast. We spent three days there before moving on to Yolla – or at least Peter went to Yolla and I went to Mackay via Hobart. Peter drove me down to Hobart last Wednesday and I flew home for 8 days to spend some time with my Farther and Mother.

After Peter got back to Deloraine he packed up and headed to Yolla with Bessy in tow to set up for our little house sitting stint. I flew back down to Tassie last Friday, and was lucky enough to get a flight to Launceston, which was closer for Peter to pick me up. My Dad has not fully recovered from his fall (and may not), but his condition has settled enough for me to return.

The first few days here were lovely fine autumn days and since then it has been rainy and cold – welcome to Tassie in winter. We have started job hunting and hopefully will have something to do other than look across the hills shortly.

I don’t know if we will last six months here, but maybe once we start a bit of work and do some short trips (when its fine) we will settle in. Bessy on the other hand just loves it here. She has a great big yard to roam in, lots of little animals to chase and a nice sunny deck to rest on. The cows are not in the paddocks next door yet, not sure how Bessy will take to them, or them to her.

Wet and dreary

A friend from Darwin sent us these pics of a “Bogan” party they had recently – almost makes you want to go back to the heat and crocs.

Bogan city – yeah that’s Darwin for you

Hopefully the next post will be full of great sunny pics!

    • Hi Kerry and Trev – will see what I can do about pics of Bessy the wonder dog. Started work yesterday at Nursing Home in Wynyard – just three days a week, and that’s to much! My Dad is a lot better but don’t think he will make a full recovery, bit hard to bounce back at 95.
