Well we set out around lunch planning to travel e finally got under way last Thursday after an eight week stay in Mackay – much longer than we originally anticipated. A big thank you to our friend Sue for putting up with us and the crazy dog. It was absolutely lovely staying by the beach and we enjoyed catching up with family and friends. I did not think I would ever say this but by the time we left I was starting to miss out little shoe box.
We set out around lunch planning to travel down the inland route – or wherever the Navman took us. We bought a new one over Xmas as the last one (quite old) took us, or at least tried to take us, to some very weird places. This on is loud (for Peter) and has large print (for me). Such fun this getting older business. The new Navman worked a treat and even managed to keep Peter honest with the speed.
We headed to Goondiwindi after leaving Rocky, and then drove to Gilgandra, on through Parks (to check out the dish) and stayed in Mildura. After a night in Renmak we arrived in Adelaide on Tuesday afternoon. We were booth pleased to find our little van waiting for us with a new window and non the worse for wear for being left for two months. I hope we don’t have to put the tent up and down again for quite some time.
Once we hitched up it was back to Bel Air park (we even got the same site) for a bit of R&R and a general clean up in the van. We are booked on the “Spirit of Tasmania” on the 8th of March, and can not wait to get there. The total cost for car, van, two people and one dog is $818.00 one way, which I though was not too bad. We are going to take our time driving to Melbourne along The Great Ocean Road. Should get some good pics I hope. Will do another post will crossing the Bass Strait, so long as it is not to rough to type.

Hi Cheryl and Peter – enjoy our favourite state in Australia – we love Tassie no matter what the season. Make sure you spend a day at MONA in Hobart. Someone described it as falling down the rabbit hole and I think that is a great description.
Hey Maree – we hope to be in Tassy for six months so we are hoping to see everything or a least most of the state. Not sure how we will cope with the cold!
