The Inland road to Broome

We headed inland on the Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road to hook up with the 95 highway at Mount Magnet that would take us up to South Headlands before heading on a more coastal rout to Broome.

We had previously been experiencing some intermittent problems with our fridge. That’s the new one we put in last year so we would have a trouble free trip!!

Well one day out from Geraldton and it decided to give up completely. We improvised using and easy and the small car fridge and continued on.

We had forgotten just how beautiful the night sky is out in the middle of nowhere until we started traveling again

The roads are amazing in WA. Very straight on the inland road and quite boring at times. We found the road train drivers extremely courteous and had no issues with the 60 m long trucks.

Lots of water lying around from recent flooding which was quite strange to see in such arid country.

The prize for the most expensive diesel goes to Sandfire Road house between Port Headlands and Broome – $2.88

Pardoo roadhouse was wiped out in a recent cyclone so they now have a captive audience.

Aflyer spending a few days in Port/ South Headlands sorting out the fridge we headed to Broome. Company we bought fridge from gave us a full refund. Plan was to head to Broome, purchase a new one and get it fitted

Broome

Arrived in Broome after making arrangements for a caravan repair company to install new Dometic fridge. Not to be – the fridge would not fit and they were not interested in ordering any other brand or fitting something they did not supply. Ended up buying a Bushman’s from Perth ourselves and finding a Fridge Mechanic who is going to help install it. I think the universe is trying to tell us to eat less.

Anyway we are getting plenty of time to see Broome and are managing quite well as we can purchase fresh food as necessary.

The coastline is quite spectacular
