Well finally a bit of travel!
Took a visit from our friends Sue and Rod to get us motivated. Sue and Rod arrived in the Apple Isle last Saturday and spent a few days looking around our neck of the woods, then we all headed over to the west coast on Monday to stay at Strahan for a few days.
The dock at Macquarie Harbour
The weather was kind for one day and then pretty ordinary the rest of the time, but did not detract to much from our visit. We spent a lovely few days taking in a cruise of Macquarie Harbor and going through Hells Gate into the open waters of the Southern Ocean (it was a calm day). We then moved on to view the fish farms (got to love Tasmanian Salmon) and cruised up the majestic Gorden River. This took us deep within the Tasmania’s World Heritage area and home of the Huon pine trees.
Sights on the cruise including ruins on Sarah Island (the aerial pics are not mine)
Food – including Salmon and great Tassie oysters were high on the list. We had dinner one night at View 42 degrees restaurant (I highly recommend it). Not only were the views stunning, the food was pretty dam good as well – all of the best Tassie has on offer.
Stayed at a nice apartment that had a fire. Yes, it was cold enough for a fire. It is getting down to 7 and 8 overnight here already – sorry all you Queenslanders who are still sweltering up north.
A map for Pam
Only a few more weeks to go down here and then we will be heading back to the mainland.

If you are coming straight home after Tassie, can you bring me some Tassie wines, cheese, seafood and Cadbury chocolate? That should do for now…
There might be a bit of spare room – what about a Tasie devil or two as well!!
