Captives of Tasmania – for a while anyway

Well now that we are all settled in Wynyard and it looks like Peter might get a job at Bunnings in Bernie – we might just be staying put for a little while. Not to long, but for awhile, or at least until we can get the van out of the cow paddock!! Yes that’s right, even with the 4WD it is so wet up at Yolla that we have not been able to get the Van up the hill to tow it down to Wynyard where we are renting. If it does not dry up a bit soon we will have to get one of the nearby farmers to pull it up the hill with a tractor – but for the time being it is safe and sound on the property.

It has been great just being able to walk to work and if Peter gets this job (fingers crossed, cause honestly he is not the best house bitch in the world), he will only have a fifteen minute drive to work. We will be able to top up the piggy bank and with a bit of luck do some more traveling around before we head home.

This pic is from the front yard – the building with the big green roof is where I work.

It has been a lovely sunny day and we went for a drive along the coast to Ulverstone and had some coffee and cake on the water front. Bessy got to play with some new friends on the beach and for once is all tuckered out. The dog has boundless energy.

It’s good to see that the Greenies have not stopped all the logging down here. They do love their tress in Tassie, especially when they have been chipped ready to ship to China, or cut into bit sized pieces, stacked and ready to put into the fire.

Rip, rip, wood chip.

It has snowed in the mountains now, and next weekend off we are heading to Cradle Mountain hoping to experience the “real” winter feel of Tassie. Will keep you all updated.

Thank you to all our followers for logging on and checking out the sight – we have people for 47 different countries that have been to the site, and I hope that you are finding something of interest or that may be helpful if you ever head to Australia. Please feel free to leave comments.

Next post I will be putting in some pics of NZ that our friends Doug and Julie took – you can be the judge of whether they are better than mine!

    • Hi Alan – apparently it has snowed down here on the coast, but not for a long time. Keep the snow up in the mountains I reckon.
