Well our time in Adelaide and the surrounding region is coming to an end and it is now time to plan the assault on a short trip home for Xmas.
We have visited all of the tourist sites – Adelaide Hills, Hahndof, Victor Harbor and of course the beach suburbs around the city. Hit a few more wineries as well. We drove down to Victor Harbor through the hills – I don’t think I have ever seen so many hills.
The weather here as been quite cool and very unseasonal so we have been told. We have also got to see a few storms roll in over the hills.

Our new rig
Bessy and I have also made a number of excursions into Belair National Park and walked a few of the trails – the dog has boundless energy, wish I could say the same for me! If you are ever in Adelaide make sure you visit this National Park – not your usual park, they allow dogs on a leash, have horse trails along with lots of walking tracks and dozens of areas where you can have a picnic, play tennis, cricket, football and basketball. From what I saw it is well utilized by the people of Adelaide.
A walk in the park
A highlight for both Peter and I was visiting the National Motor Museum, they have so many vintage/veteran cars and bikes it’s enough to make you salivate.
More of the Motor Museum
We had planned to fly home via Brisbane, but have now decided to drive, what the heck it’s only 3000kms. The van is still going into storage, but having the car will give us transport when we reach Mackay and also the opportunity to pick up the in-laws from Brisbane Airport. Robyn’s family are coming out from Canada for Xmas – I hope you guys realize you will be going from -10 to 35 degrees.
The Hills and Coast road
It almost seems we have come a full circle – what to pack and what to leave behind once again. Iam sure we will work it out without killing one another, maybe.
We plan to leave on Sunday the 8th and drive to Brisbane via Broken Hill. After spending a few days in Brisbane we will be heading up to Mackay for Xmas and spending time with friends and family and hopefully taking our Canadian visitors out for a spot of fishing/crabbing.
Can not wait to see you all!!!!!
